Medical professional listening to patient

We are extremely excited at Go Easy Read to be participating in the SELSI conference later this year in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Alongside other Easy Read researchers, I will be speaking at the final event of this research project ‘Spoken Easy Language for Social Inclusion’.

Clearer spoken communication

Zavod Risa are leading the 2-year innovative project which examines spoken Easy language in Europe. Until now, Easy Language research has largely focused on written information, so this project exploring how we can use clearer spoken communication has been long needed.

New online tool

The multidisciplinary team of researchers, professionals, and end-users from across Europe started the project by mapping what we know about spoken Easy Language in different countries and languages in Europe. At the final event in October, they will launch an online tool in different languages, including recommendations and strategies for spoken Easy Language.

We are really looking forward to this and thinking about how we can incorporate this knowledge into our work here at Go Easy Read.

Fantastic opportunity

At the event, I will present on the use of Easy Language in healthcare settings in the UK. Fellow practitioners and researchers from the Easy Language International Network (ELIN) will also attend and present, so it will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more from members about their research and developments in the field.
